Oh mama mia is right!
Now here’s a sauce that will surely please any meat lovin’ man! This is one of my “go to’s” when I sense my man is feeling a little “hangry” or when I have a fussy toddler at dinner time. Hey let’s face it, we all love pasta! There is something so comforting about sitting down to a big bowl of warm spaghetti! It’s pretty remarkable, really. This special sauce is not only loaded with meat, but a variety of fresh herbs and veggies galore! Need I say more?
Ingredients:
2 pounds spaghetti
1 pound ground organic beef
4 diced garlic cloves
1 diced carrot
½ cup diced onion
½ cup grated zucchini
¼ cup diced red bell pepper
1 tsp sugar
2 diced tomatoes
30 oz tomato sauce
3 tbsp fresh basil
1 tbsp fresh parsley
1 tbsp fresh oregano
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp olive oil
4 tbsp fresh parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Let’s get saucy! Dice up the carrot, onion, red bell pepper, garlic and grate the zucchini. Begin by sauteing these ingredients in olive oil on medium heat. When slightly browned, add the ground beef and stir until the beef has browned as well. Add the tomato sauce, fresh tomato, herbs, sugar and spices. Save some of the fresh herbs to garnish on top. Simmer on low for 30 to 45 minutes stirring often. While the sauce is simmering, cook the pasta and strain. Try out a veggie or whole wheat pasta for a healthier option! Get out your big bowls, dish up the spaghetti, load on the spectacular sauce and sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and herbs! Dinner is served!
Ciao Bella!
