Everyone wants to be happy, but what if I told you that there are likely a number of things you are doing in your everyday life that are making you unhappy that you may not even know about? Well, it’s likely that is the case, so read on and discover five different things you are likely doing that are making you unhappy.
1. Eating Bad Food
While you may be excited as you sit down to have that big greasy burger and fries, you will likely be singing a different tune after you eat it as you experience what we call “food coma”. Not only does this food cause you to feel pretty bad right away, it also has hugely negative long term effects if you eat it too often. If you aren’t super happy in life, changing up your diet can have big positive effects on all areas of your life.
2. Having Bad Relationships
No matter how happy a person is, if they are surrounded by unhappy or negative people (whether romantically or platonic), it will surely take a toll on them. These bad relationships can severely hold you back in life and waste your time being sad or unhappy when you shouldn’t be. It is important to surround yourself with positive and happy individuals, your sanity will thank you.
3. Not Getting Enough Sleep
Everyone knows how much sleep is normal for an adult and getting less can be harmful for a number of reasons, but yet people don’t really do anything about it. Far too often people try to get by on only a few hours of sleep and claim they use that extra time to be productive. And while that may be the case, some of these people would just be better off with the few more hours of sleep. The way you feel when you have a solid full night’s sleep vs. when you have a crappy one, is a night and day difference.
4. Working
Working. Everyone has to do it, yet it makes a majority of people unhappy. In fact, I would argue that for a lot of different people, their job is actually the number one reason these people aren’t happy. This is a hard thing to change as people cant often pick and choose where they work or what they do, but if your job is really making your severely unhappy, I recommend you at least look into some other jobs. No job is worth losing your sanity over.
5. Holding Grudges/Not Forgiving
While this one is definitely easier said than done, swallowing your pride and forgiving people and not holding grudges can go a long way in helping you be a positive and happy person. People that dwell on the past and hold on to grudges are generally not that happy because these grudges prevent people from moving on from that situation. If you can forgive and forget, that will be a huge help to living a happier lifestyle.
