February 1st, 2008: Acting on evidence from a sting where investigators lured Van der Sloot to admit to the crime, they arrested him again. They’d recorded Van der Sloot via hidden cameras and mics in a car, where Van der Sloot had been riding around smoking weed with another man. That man, Patrick van der Eem, was an ex-convict who’d gained Van der Sloot’s trust enough to ask about the case. Van der Sloot copped to the crime.
