It didn’t matter how confident Aruban police were that Van der Sloot was their man. They didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute him. They asked the Netherlands authorities to step in, which they did. No surprise that the new authorities on the case landed on the same suspects. They issued warrants for the three boys again in November 2007, but could only hold them only until December of that same year. The courts had determined that there was not enough to go on. They closed Natalee’s case the same month they released the boys.
