eWorld (1994)
Apple, at one time, thought they could get in on the AOL game. Uniquely offered to Macintosh owners, not PC compatible, their answer to AOL was eWorld. It lasted two years. Compared to AOL, eWorld was innovative but costly at $8.95 per month. For your nine-smackers, Apple comped you two free night or weekend hours. Sort of sounds like a few other Apple products with cheaper alternatives. I’m looking at you Apple Music and the iCloud. The software for eWorld centered on a “town hall” metaphor, where various town buildings housed facets of the service. That’s pretty cute for company one normally describes as sexy.
