Sold for $9,995, around $24,000 in today’s market, the Lisa would go down in history as one of Apple’s most famous flops. It was the first personal computer to feature a graphic user interface. The only thing Lisa had going for it was that, from the ashes of Lisa, the Macintosh team built their less expensive PC, which crushed Lisa. Unlike the failure with the III, Lisa was a competent machine, but just too expensive. Some of the features Lisa introduced, like the operating system, would not find their way into Apple computers for years after they put her to rest. There were other renditions of Lisa, cheaper versions, but it was too late. Macintosh was the winner.
