The only buttonless version of the shuffle, the 3rd iPod was a fail from the start. You were to control navigating your tracks with the buttons on your Apple earbuds. The complicated series of click combinations mandated separate instructions from Apple but were difficult to remember none-the-less. Getting lost navigating was a nightmare, considering you had no screen to sort things out. Not the image of easy user interface for which Apple prides itself.
