Because rigidity always has a breaking point, why not make displays that bend? We already have these, but you can expect this niche market to expand in the next five years. What is fueling this, besides our clumsiness? OLEDs, mostly, which are organic Light Emission Diodes. LG has been making TVs with OLEDs already, but now they have a flexible display prototype. In the home, the application for this will be varying your viewing experience, based on audience and medium. For smartphone and tablets, it means displays that don’t break.
