Airships
Remember the Hindenberg? Yeah, the one from history class or that blog you read. Truth be told, most people have no idea that the plan was once to fly everywhere in airships. You may know them as blimps or dirigibles. The proper name is Airships. The plan for airship travel was so part of the zeitgeist, the Empire States building was actually supposed to be a port for docking. True story. Back then, we were filling them with hydrogen, which is very, very light. It’s also very, very ignitable. There was a terrible incident with the Hindenberg, where that airship exploded and crashed. That sorta put a damper on the technology, but today’s versions are better. New airships use multiple hulls, combined with hybrid technology.
