Private Space Travel
Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk aren’t the only two names in the space race. Richard Branson from Virgin Atlantic is also going into space. In fact, Branson was more focused on private space travel than the other two prior to the 2015 crash of Virgin Atlantic’s spaceship. In the private sector, there are dozens of companies worldwide. The variety of ways they intend to enter the race, if they haven’t already, include traditional rockets, airplanes that launch the craft (in the case of Virgin), and balloon travel. High altitude balloons could be the cheapest way ($75,000) to see the curvature of the earth, and it could be very soon. Two companies are fighting the be the first to offer it full time, Bloon and Worldview.
