Why would you want to reuse a rocket? The same reason you would reuse anything. It’s cost effective. Tow companies are leading the charge for reusable rockets, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, and Elon Musk’s Space X. Both have successfully launched, landed and re-used rockets. How much exactly do reusable rockets save? Hard to say, but advocates push for 30-40% at the outset, maybe more over time. The question we can’t answer yet is, how much does it cost to make them fly again? That cost will impact the savings. If it is 40% savings, then the answer is in the tens of millions of dollars.
