The speed of technology is exponential. The best explanation of this is from Tim Urban’s blog Wait but Why. It’s a long-form blog, with entries seven times the length of most other blogs. I’ll save you the trouble by paraphrasing. Urban argues that bringing someone from 1750 AD into modern times would be overwhelming from a technology standpoint. Such a person couldn’t even comprehend most of what we have. If that same person brought someone from 1500 AD into his own time period, 1700s technology would not shock the man from the 1500s.
