3D printing is nothing new. To the chagrin of nerds everywhere, it’s far from Star Trek replicator technology. Comparing the two would be like outfitting police with squirt guns instead of guns; it’s suggestive, but not the same. 2017 won’t leave us ordering Earl Grey Tea from thin air either, but it may be the first year you use a 3D printer. Carbon3D has technology that produces smooth but strong parts from a photochemical process [read: nerd stuff] at about 100 times the speed of other 3D technologies. The chances that you will replace parts for your car or vacuum by visiting a 3D fabricator are good in 2017.
