Ocean Fish Farming
The realities of our oceans are grim. They are heating up, killing more sea life with every degree. Not to mention, we’re fishing the oceans empty. At the rate we are going our children’s children may have nothing left to trawl. Farm-raised fish present as many problems as they solve, more toxic than their wild caught counterparts. Hawaii Oceanic Technology, Inc, (HOT) may have the solution to overfishing and farm-raised fish concerns. Raise the fish in the ocean in something they call the Oceansphere. HOT has been hard at work off the coast of Hawaii, developing large underwater spheres for raising popular ocean fish from egg to adult. It’s an automated system with environmental regulators and feeding systems to protect the fish. They will install the first of these sphere before the end of the year, which means you could enjoy Oceansphere fish by Christmas 2017.
